Non-destructive testing of composites
Electronic holography and shearography have a great potential in non-destructive testing, especially of composites. Real-time capabilities of these techniques allow a very efficient detection of different faults in composites and in structures. New stressing techniques are continuously being added to classical ones (pressure, thermal, vacuum, vibrations), in order to put in evidence specific defects. In electronic holography, self-stressing of fibrous composites by water absorbtion allows detection of fiber traject inside the matrix. In classical holography, continuous exposure may lead to the detection of specific defects in tires, such as lack of circularity of insertions.
